One of the activities we did was to go strawberry picking! Strawberry picking at Delange’s Redberry farm is a great way to engage with ur local community, gain access to fresh strawberries that are sweet, juicy and amazing. This lemony, zesty nutritious salad is quite a  filling one so you can easily make this a part of your meal or your whole meal itself. Craving for a salad today? Tired of cooking and looking for a quick fix munch? You are in the right place my friend! This is a salad that I often make when I am in the mood to eat something light yet healthy and when I am in the crunch for time. This recipe can be made anytime during the year but it is the best during the strawberry season when you get the best, succulent, and fresh strawberries 🙂 I’ve combined strawberries with nuts and spinach bringing omega 3 and iron to the mix. Adding healthy salads like this to your weekly diet will also help in bringing that nutritional balance that we always aim to gain. Here is a dish that that is tangy, with a hint of spice and everything nice. You could have this as a salad or could make for a side dish too. This recipe is inspired from snack that i purchased at costco (pita pal organic balela). We absolutely love it and I feel its a lot more cost effective to make it at home. Balela is a middle eastern dish and its brings forward a lot of the flavors from the area. You can experiment with this dish with the spices of your choice too to bring in a new twist. You can add more veggies depending on your taste. This is a quick and tasty way of getting that dose of veggies for the day. Try it out and let me know how you liked it! For the salad: Serves 1 1 large avocado diced into cubes 1/2 cup toasted sliced almonds (optional) handful of cherry tomatoes, halved 1 large carrot, julienned 1/2 cucumber, diced 2 green onions, thinly sliced handful of cilantro or parsley leaves (optional) sesame seeds (optional) For the dressing: 1 garlic clove 1 tbsp fresh lime juice 2 tbsp olive oil 1-2 tsp honey (or other sweetener), to taste salt and pepper Directions: Prepare all the ingredients under salad.
